Public opinion can’t be changed with threats – Rajapaksa

Public opinion can’t be changed with threats – Rajapaksa

Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that public opinion cannot be changed with threats and intimidation and that it is wrong to prohibit SLFP members from attending rallies organized by other political parties.
Asked whether he will be attending the public rally organized in Kandy today supporting him to contest the General Election, Rajapaksa jokingly said that he has to “sign at several weddings today.”
The ex-President, however, confirmed that he has received an invitation to participate in the rally, which is being organized by several coalition parties of the UPFA.
On the SLFP central committee’s recent decision barring members from attending rallies of other parties, Rajapaksa said: “I think that it’s wrong. I believe public opinion cannot be stopped by threats and intimidation.”
Replying to questions from reporters during a visit to the Madurawala Pradeshiya Sabha in Horana, he said that no force is raising their voice against the UNP government and that the rallies - in Nugegoda and Kandy - are the only voice  currently available. “That is why the people come.”
When asked where the real Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is, Rajapaksa pointed to his chest saying “it’s here.”
He stated that he has never left the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) at any point in time, even temporarily.
“I’m in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. I have no other parties. I have never left even temporarily and I will never leave temporarily.”
“No one can ask me to leave the Sri Lanka Freedom Party,” Rajapaksa said.

This is the fact the current SLFP fools don't seem to understand.
The SLFP's recent electoral successes since 2005 have all been due to MR.
People voted for the SLFP/UPFA as a sign of support for MR. All the usleless PC, LG members and SLFP MPs in Parliament gained their seats/popularity because of MR.
If the SLFP hopes to gain any seats at all in the upcoming General Election, they will need MR, without him they gain nothing. The UNP knows this and hence why they are trying to block MR entering Parliament through any means (and with the current fool and theif My3 in charge of the SLFP the UNP is trying to control the SLFP).
What these people don't realise is, whatever party MR contests from (if he does contest, even with a brand new party of his own or under the MEP, NFF etc) that party will get a HUGE number of seats.
In fact MR contesting seperate from the SLFP may indeed "split" SLFP which is what the UNP also hopes to see. However if that happens, whatever party MR is coming from will get at least 80 seats, the SLFP will be a shell of its current self. And of course that SLFP shell will team up with MR giving MR a large majority.
The way things are, the nations disgust at the UNP will only see them getting 40 seats.
The ticket to winning a comfortable majority in Parliament in the upcoming General Election is with whoever has MR.

Rajarata paraya ( RP ) & CBK are the root cause for UNP to form a Govt: Furthermore, these two are root cause to removing a SLFP Govt: Ranil led UNP would not have won any election for at least for 10 years, if not for RP. RP to turn around and say '' please do not split the party'' is a joke. It is good for him & CBK to get into UNP platform & travel around the country with Ranil but it is not good for SLFP members to get into UPFA organised platform. Joke!!. Since 2005, UPFA, led by SLFP has formed Govt: & it wasonly under MR that at single alliance had obtained maximum seats in our Parlimentery history, that is 127 seats. Under the current system, no one has achieved that. Naturally, the leader who achieved that was MR.
The other joke is, Rajarata Paraya, who said his cabinet would not exceed 30 Ministers already have 55 Ministers inculding deputy Ministers & have offered to increase to 90, as a sweetner. People can noe decide how these crooks keep promises.
