Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) claims the Facebook fan pages of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Provincial Councillor Udaya Gammanpila and MP Wimal Weerawansa have been subjected to a cyber-attack.

The PHU in a statement claims that the ‘likes’ for the FB fan page of Gammanpila had drastically dropped by 1200 between 7 – 9 pm last Friday.

“Since it was a sudden drop, we took measures to check the FB fan pages of former President Rajapaksa and parliamentarian Weerawansa. The likes on their FB fan pages had dropped by 15,800 and 4100. Although it’s a common occurrence for likes to drop, a drastic drop of this nature in such a brief period is cause for suspicion,” the PHU notes.

The PHU claims they believe it’s a result of the actions of an opposing group that has deployed an internet ‘bot’ to decrease the likes on the fan pages of these politicians.

PHU furthermore stated that Councillor Gammanpila has notified the FB administrators concerning these attacks.

If these people are so concerned about FB likes then the public better galvanise themselves and DISLIKE these pages just as we voted these people OUT. Simple as that.

This shows their ignorance on social media. This kind of sudden drop can happen only if you have "fake" or non-genuine likes purchased from like farms. FB routinely deletes these kind of "fake" likes.

As per Facebook guidelines all Fake likes will be removed. Its not like any of you had genuine Likes to begin with! You should rename your party name to Higaman Urumaya!

PHU Fools...Shows the ignorance of technology. This has not got anything to do with "hacks". It is the result of facebook updading how the likes are tallied by removing likes of inactive accounts. Seehttps://www.facebook.com/business/news/page-likes-updateLet them publish the "results" of this notification to FB admins for all to see...

All the fake FB profiles that were used to put likes on their pages would have been de-activated by Facebook itself.. Not a big issue.

Drop in "Likes" is not a hack. It is,people just do not like these people.

This is a false claim made by those who are unaware of what was happening with FB. FB has updated its "likes" count of everyone to eliminate some irregularities. Please refer to https://www.facebook.com/business/news/page-likes-update

Those likes are from the fake accounts. Facebook is in a process of removing inactive accounts and likes from these accounts: http://www.businessnewsdaily.com/7825-facebook-page-likes.html

Facebook changed their like count policy to remove fake and inactive accounts. This is because real likes are valuable for real businesses, and not an actual measure for something like popularity. But who would expect these fellows to keep track of what FB is and what likes re used forhttps://www.facebook.com/business/news/page-likes-updateShows how many fake likes were there.

Udaya and Co are stupid and crazy. If the "likes" -are getting reduced this shows their declining popularity amongst the people.. It Is Time For Them To Quit And May Be Migrate To Australia where he belongs to.
