Nimal Siripala de Silva also raised concerns over the arrest of several SLFP members, including Basil Rajapaksa, Johnston Fernando and Sajin de Vass Gunawardena.
He said the SLFP has no issues with the investigations but it feels the arrest is part of an attempt to weaken the SLFP and take political revenge.
“The law is being misused,” the former Minister said.
Meanwhile former Minister and SLFP MP Dullas Alahapperuma said that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had told him he will be arrested if he fails to appear before the police to make a statement over a protest he took part in opposite the Bribery and Corruption Commission recently.
Alahapperuma says he has been accused of carrying a distorted Sri Lanka flag at the protest. (Colombo Gazette)
