KANDY - "Kurunegala meeting last Friday (08) had sent a clear message to those who had resorted to wrongful arrests and other such revengeful acts, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the media in Kandy on Saturday (09).

He said so while leaving the Bogambara Dumbra Prison at Pallekele after visiting Chairman of the Central Provincial Council Mahinda Abeykoon who is serving a jail term there.

"At the rate the Yahapalana government is throwing our supporters behind bars on trumped up charges, we may have to visit prisons daily to see the," Rajapaksa said.

Basil Rajapaksa had been remanded on allegations connected to ‘Samurdhi’ matters. But, now Samrdhi beneficiaries were being named by Sajith Premadasa. Ravi Karunanayake had instructed Lankaputhra Bank to issue Samurdi loans without conditions, the former President said.

He said Mangala Samaraweera’s allegation that Rajapaksa family had stashed away USD 18 billion in foreign bank accounts was an diabolical lie. "I am seeking legal advice regarding the accusation".

The ex-President said those who paid lip service to good governance were scared of the Rajapaksas. The government did not want to open the Schools Mahindodaya Technology labs, he said. "Mahindodaya is not my name!"

Kandy District parliamentarian Lohan Ratwatte and Kundasala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Asela Ekanayake accompanied the former President.
